State tax collections barely inched up 0.6 of a percent in August, but state officials see it more as an anomaly than a sign that the economy is slowing. The state collected $1.305 billion in taxes last month, up $8.4 million from August 2005, according to figures released today by the Department of Revenue. Income tax collections were up half a percent, and net sales taxes rose 1.3 percent.
