A close friend of mine was recently in a situation where they needed a New Jersey lawyer. When I first heard of their predicament, I thought that finding a good New Jersey lawyer would be a fairly easy task. There are lots of New Jersey lawyers, so why would anyone have trouble finding one? It turns out that I was very wrong. I learned this over the course of a month when my friend would constantly discuss the troubles they were having in their search for a New Jersey lawyer. Their search for a New Jersey lawyer began by asking their friends if they had any positive experiences and wanted to recommend someone. Unfortunately, this approach turned out to be fruitless as most New Jersey lawyers are highly specialized and no one had had an experience in this exact area.
Next, my friend turned to the Yellow Pages in their search for a New Jersey lawyer. It seems as though most high quality lawyers do not advertise in the phone book. After several painful phone calls with what my friend described as speaking with a 6 year old New Jersey lawyer, he went to the internet. This is where my friend ended up finding his New Jersey lawyer, but the process was not easy. The internet also resulted in many frustrating phone calls, although many of the poorer lawyers could be identified based on their website. The case is still being prepared for trial, so it is hard to determine if this extensive search was worthwhile. However, it clearly opened my eyes to how difficult it can be finding a New Jersey lawyer.
